01During the call

What Happens During a 1v1 Video Call?

A 1v1 video call is one live connection between two people: her camera and microphone reach you, yours reach her, and nobody else joins. Here is how a call plays out.

Same hello, two speeds: a typed message waits for a reply; on a call, the reply is her face and voice.
  1. 01It connects

    Her video, your preview

Her video fills the screen and your camera shows as a small preview in the corner, so you see what she sees. That two-camera view is the cam to cam chat: both of you on webcam, talking face to face. A random match connects on its own; a profile call connects when she answers.

  2. 02You talk

    Voice and video at once

Both microphones are live, so you simply talk. Tone and expression do half the work, and a laugh lands the moment it happens.

  3. 03You type, if you like

Not a text chat with video

A text chat lets you rewrite and answer later; a call happens now. The message bar helps with spelling a name, but talking is the conversation.

  4. 04It ends

    Ending the call

The red button at the top ends the call once you confirm. In a random match it is greyed out for the first few seconds.

  5. 05What’s next

    Moving on to someone new

Tap Next, or hang up during free time, and random matching finds someone new. A profile call simply ends, and you choose who to call next.

02Two starts

Two Ways to Start a Video Call

Every call ends up on the same screen. What changes is who you talk to, how the call begins and what it can cost.

Route A

Random Match

How it starts
Select Video on the match screen and tap Start. When a match is found, the call opens by itself.
Who you talk to
Whoever the app pairs you with. You can’t choose or filter.
Free allowance
Limited free matches, shown as a Free badge, each with a stretch of free time.
Moving on
Next, or hanging up during free time, brings a new match.

Route B

Call from a Profile

How it starts
Pick a profile in Browse Women and tap the video call button. It rings until she answers.
Who you talk to
The woman you chose, if she is free to answer.
Cost
Coins per minute at the rate shown, unless the app labels the call Free.
Moving on
There is no Next. End the call and choose again.

03On screen

Inside the Video Call

The screen you spend the call on has three layers: the video, a few controls around the edges, and prompts that appear only when something changes.

A 1on1Chat video call screen with eight labelled parts in three layers, described in the list that follows.

Layer 1 The video

1Her video
Fills the whole screen, underneath every control.
2Your preview
Your own camera. Black means it is off or blocked. That pair of pictures is the cam-to-cam view.

Layer 2 The controls

3Timer
Time talked so far. It restarts at 00:01 when paid minutes begin.
4End call
Asks you to confirm. Greyed out briefly in a random match.
5Next
Random matches only, during free time. Unlocks after a short countdown.
6Message bar and •••
Type a message. ••• turns your camera or microphone off.

Layer 3 The prompts

7Free-time notice
Shows the per-minute rate five seconds before free time ends.
8Balance prompt
Minutes left when coins run low, with an option to extend.

Next, mode by mode

How Next works in each kind of call
Random match, free timeNext unlocks after a few seconds. Tap it and you move straight to a new match.
Random match, paid minutesNext is gone. Hanging up now stops matching and takes you back.
Call from a profileNo Next at all. End the call and choose again from the list.

When the call can’t continue

  • She leaves, or the connection drops. A random match looks for someone new; a profile call ends.
  • Your coins run out. The call ends at zero, and a top-up offer may follow.
  • She can’t take your profile call. The app says she may be busy and offers to message her instead.

04The meter

Free Time, Call Duration and Coins

Starting a call is free. What it costs depends on how long it runs after the free part. Here is one random video call from start to finish.

  1. Before the callFree matches left
  2. Free call timeNext still available
  3. 5s noticeRate shown in chat
  4. Paid minutesCoins per minute
  5. Low balanceOption to extend
  6. ZeroCall stops
Lengths are illustrative. Allowances and rates are shown in the app and can change, so we don’t quote them.

Before the call: free matches

The Video or Audio tab carries a Free badge while you have free matches left, showing how many remain. No badge means none are left on that tab.

At the start: free call time

A free match opens with a short stretch of free time, and Next is there if you’d rather meet someone else. Five seconds before it ends, a chat message shows the per-minute rate. Hang up before then and you pay nothing. More on how free call time works.

After free time: coins per minute

Keep talking and the timer jumps back to 00:01, Next disappears, and coins are charged each minute. Hanging up ends the call and stops matching.

When the balance runs low

A prompt shows roughly how many minutes you have left, with a button to extend and a countdown before it hangs up for you. A special offer may follow. At zero, the call ends.

05Any screen

1v1 Video Call on Phone or Desktop

The call runs in your web browser, so there is nothing to download. Open the site, allow your camera and microphone once, and the same call works on either screen.

The same video call open in a laptop browser, with the browser asking to use the camera and microphone, and on a phone held upright.

On your phone

Built for phone browsers first. Hold the phone upright and steady so her video fills the screen and your face stays in frame. Safari, Chrome and connection tips are in mobile video chat.

On a computer

A recent browser and a webcam are enough. Close meeting apps first, or the browser can’t hand the camera to the call.

Before you press Start

  • PermissionsTap Allow for camera and microphone. Without both, the video call can’t start.
  • ConnectionWi-Fi or a strong signal. Pause downloads and streaming so the picture doesn’t freeze.
  • SoundHeadphones stop echo and keep the call private.
  • LightFace a window or lamp, not away from it, so she can see you.

Blocked the camera by mistake, or using Safari on an iPhone? The browser-by-browser steps are in How It Works.

06Questions

Video Call FAQ

  1. What is a 1v1 video call?

A live call between you and one other person, with nobody else on it. Her video fills your screen and yours sits in the corner.

  2. Can I start a 1 on 1 video call online?

Yes. Choose Video on the match screen and tap Start, or tap Video Chat on a woman’s profile. A visitor session is usually set up for you, so you can often begin without signing up.

  3. Can I call someone without a phone number?

Yes. No number, email or invite link is needed: calls connect inside the site. It is not a meeting tool, so you can’t create a room or invite a friend.

  4. Can I start a video call from someone’s profile?

Yes. Tap the call button on her card or Video Chat on her profile. It is free only when labelled free; otherwise the rate is shown before you call.

  5. Is a 1v1 video call free to start?

Yes. Random matches use your free matches while the Free badge shows, and each opens with a short free period. After that, calls cost coins per minute.

  6. What happens when free call time ends?

A chat message shows the rate five seconds before. If you stay, the timer restarts at 00:01 and coins are charged each minute.

  7. Can I make a video call on my phone?

Yes, in your phone’s browser, with no app to install. Allow the camera and microphone when asked.

  8. What if she doesn’t answer or leaves?

From a profile, the app says she may be busy and offers to message her. If she leaves a random match, the app finds you a new one.

  9. How do I end a video call?

Tap the red button in the top-right corner and confirm. During free time a random match then moves on; once paid minutes start, matching stops.
